Pakistan Test cricket captain Shan Masood has shared his ambitions and strategic vision to lead the national team to the finals of the 2023-2025 World Test Cup (WTC).
In an interview with Wisden Cricket Monthly, Masood revealed his desire to captain the Pakistan team in Test matches against arch-rivals India, regardless of venue or occasion.
“You want to play the best team in the world and India is one of the best, especially in test cricket. We saw a very interesting India vs England series. I would love to be (India vs Pakistan). It’s an honor to lead Pakistan against India, “he said.
Masood Station hopes to revive this fierce rivalry, especially through the World Test Championship (WTC).
“It’s probably not now, but you never know. There’s always a case for a World Test Cup final. It would be great,” he said.
“But we have some work to do. We have to win all our home series and get some points, but we are still in good shape. We have to take it regularly. We have eight months before the next Test match, so we still have some thoughts about that approach,” he said.
It should be noted that the Indian team is currently leading the rankings in the ICC World Test Cup 2023-25, with six wins from nine matches and boasting a run percentage of 68.51%. On the other hand, the Pakistan team won two out of five matches and ranked fourth with 36.66%.
