Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s upcoming film King has reportedly secured pre-release business deals worth ₹665 crore ahead of its scheduled theatrical release on December 24, 2026.
Directed by Siddharth Anand, the highly anticipated film has reportedly attracted major distribution, digital, satellite and music rights deals before reaching cinemas. However, the substantial pre-release figures have also raised expectations for its box office performance.
According to a report by Pinkvilla, the film’s overseas distribution rights have reportedly been acquired by Phars Films for a minimum guarantee of ₹175 crore. Its domestic distribution rights have been sold to Paan Marudhar for ₹250 crore.
Streaming platform Netflix has reportedly acquired the digital rights for ₹150 crore. The satellite rights are valued at ₹25 crore, while music rights have generated another ₹65 crore.
Together, these agreements account for a reported pre-release business of ₹665 crore. However, the final value of the streaming deal may depend on the film’s theatrical performance.
Despite the reported deals, King faces a significant financial target. Its initial budget was estimated at ₹300 crore, but reports by Sacnilk and Pinkvilla suggest that production costs have increased to approximately ₹400 crore.
Marketing and promotional expenses are estimated at around ₹50 crore. Including Shah Rukh Khan’s fee, the film’s overall cost is expected to reach approximately ₹550 crore.
According to the report, the film may need to earn at least ₹800 crore at the worldwide box office to meet the financial targets of its producers and distributors.
King marks the second major collaboration between Shah Rukh Khan and Siddharth Anand after their 2023 blockbuster Pathaan. It will also be Shah Rukh Khan’s first theatrical release in more than three years since Dunki.
