ISLAMABAD, November 3, 2026: Coca-Cola Pakistan has received a sustainability award for its plastic road initiative in Islamabad, recognising a public-private partnership aimed at promoting environmentally responsible infrastructure development.
The company was honoured in the Sustainable Cities and Built Environment category at the 29th Sustainable Development Conference (SDC) and 4th Sustainability Investment Expo (SIE), organised by the Sustainable Development Policy Institute (SDPI).
The award recognised Coca-Cola Pakistan’s collaboration with the Capital Development Authority (CDA) and TeamUp/National Incubation Center (NIC) to construct what was described as Pakistan’s first plastic road along Atatürk Avenue in Islamabad.
The project was highlighted as an example of cooperation between public institutions and the private sector in developing alternative approaches to urban infrastructure.
Denmark’s Ambassador to Pakistan Maja Derrous Mortensen and Coordinator to the Prime Minister for Climate Change and Environmental Coordination Romina Khurshid Alam presented the award.
Dr. Faisal Hashmi, Senior Director of Public Affairs, Communications and Sustainability for Coca-Cola Pakistan and Afghanistan Region, received the honour on behalf of the company.
The conference and exhibition were held under the theme “Rethinking Development in an Age of Disruption,” bringing attention to initiatives focused on sustainable development and climate-resilient solutions.
The recognition places the Islamabad plastic road project among initiatives acknowledged by SDPI for their contribution to sustainable cities and the built environment.
