Legendary film actress Shabnam has spoken fondly about Pakistan, saying she continues to miss the country where she received immense love and appreciation throughout her career.
The veteran actress recently celebrated her 80th birthday and said she received messages and greetings from admirers around the world.
Speaking from Dhaka, Shabnam recalled the affection she received from Pakistani audiences and said she could not have asked for greater appreciation.
She shared that some of her fans had even named their daughters after her, describing the gesture as a lasting expression of the love she received from audiences.
‘I miss Pakistan dearly’
Talking about her connection with Pakistan, Shabnam said she misses the country and expressed a strong desire to return.
The veteran actress said she sometimes feels like flying directly to Pakistan because of how much she misses the country.
Shabnam also recalled working with many of the leading heroes of her era. She said she appeared opposite several popular actors but worked most frequently with actor Nadeem, with whom she formed one of the most successful on-screen pairings in Pakistani cinema.
A celebrated career in South Asian cinema
Shabnam has enjoyed a long and influential career in the film industry, appearing in around 160 films across Urdu, Bengali and Punjabi cinema.
Her partnership with Nadeem became particularly popular among audiences, producing several successful films and creating a screen pairing that remains fondly remembered by fans.
The actress has previously expressed her affection for Pakistan and has also indicated that she would consider returning to the country for a film project if an appropriate offer came her way.
Her latest comments once again highlight the enduring bond between Shabnam and the Pakistani audiences who followed her career for decades.
