RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s security forces killed 41 militants in two intelligence-based operations (IBOs) in Balochistan, the military’s media wing said on Friday.

According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the operations were carried out on January 29 in Harnai and Panjgur districts. The statement said the militants were linked to groups involved in cross-border activities and terrorism inside Pakistan.

Operation in Harnai

ISPR reported that one operation was conducted on the outskirts of Harnai District, where security forces engaged a militant hideout. After an exchange of fire, 30 fighters were killed. A large cache of weapons, ammunition, and explosives was recovered and destroyed at the site.

Operation in Panjgur

In a separate operation in Panjgur District, security forces targeted another hideout, killing 11 militants. ISPR said weapons, ammunition, and money looted during a bank robbery in Panjgur on December 15, 2025, were also recovered. The statement added that those killed had been involved in multiple terrorist activities in the past.

Sanitisation operations are continuing in both areas to clear any remaining threats. ISPR said the counterterrorism campaign under “Azm-e-Istehkam” will proceed at full pace to eliminate foreign-sponsored militancy from the country.
