The Supreme Court accepted PTI founder Imran Khan’s appeal to present his arguments in the writ petition against the repeal of the NAB amendment.
Five judges of the Supreme Court headed by the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) heard the court’s appeal against the repeal of the NAB amendment. The bench allowed the former prime minister’s arguments to be presented through a video link.
During the hearing, Imran Khan’s letter was presented in the Supreme Court. JJP wrongly said that Imran Khan wanted to appear in person to present his arguments. Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel said the petitioner wants to appear alone or through a lawyer.
Judge Athar Minallah asked how he could be stopped if he wanted to appear in person.
JJP said the issue is not about individual rights but about changing the law. If it’s his personal business, it will definitely come up. “How can ordinary people help the court? If the speech is going to be used for other purposes, it should be reviewed,” he said.
CJP Isa said that this has become a strange situation as NAB is also supporting the government in this regard. The founder of PTI should be given an opportunity to hear the other side’s position. The opposing party is not represented here.
