Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt has clarified his recent remarks about not feeling as peaceful in India as he once did, after facing criticism over comments made during an appearance on Shekhar Suman’s show.
The Munna Bhai M.B.B.S. actor issued a clarification on social media, saying his intention was never to hurt the sentiments of any individual, community or institution.
Sanjay Dutt explained that the conversation was part of a pre-planned script and that his intention was to add humor and a lighthearted tone to the program. He said his comments were made within the context of that scripted discussion, which involved humor and satire.
Referring to the style and themes of the Munna Bhai films, the actor said his remarks were intended in the same spirit of humor, particularly the concept of “Gandhigiri,” which promotes messages of love, compassion, unity and goodwill.
Sanjay Dutt said, unfortunately, his words were understood outside their original context. He reiterated that he had no intention of offending or hurting anyone’s feelings.
The clarification comes after his earlier comments sparked criticism and were widely discussed on social media.
