Pakistan-based fintech SadaPay said its app went offline for all users on Tuesday after infrastructure in Bahrain, where its cloud services are hosted, was disrupted following recent drone strikes. The outage affected access to its digital wallet services, impacting users across Pakistan.
In a public update, the company said its systems rely on Amazon Web Services (AWS) in Bahrain and that worsening conditions in the affected region led to a complete service outage. The disruption comes amid ongoing regional tensions that have affected critical infrastructure.
Cloud outage linked to regional disruption
SadaPay said the issue is tied to damage impacting shared cloud infrastructure used by multiple services in the Gulf, adding that similar disruptions are being faced by other financial platforms in the region.
The company stated that the outage is not due to an internal failure but said it is working to restore services on priority.
Payments continue, funds remain secure
Despite the outage, SadaPay said debit cards, ATM withdrawals and point-of-sale transactions remain operational. It also assured users that all customer funds are safe and fully accounted for.
The company apologised for the inconvenience and said further updates would be shared as services are restored.
Earlier system issue acknowledged
The disruption follows a recent system issue in which some users reported incorrect deductions and negative balances. SadaPay had said those balances would be restored and reiterated that user funds were secure.
