PESHAWAR: Chairperson Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) Senator Rubina Khalid attended the Platinum Jubilee ceremony of the Forward System of Education in Peshawar as chief guest, paying tribute to the institution’s 75 years of educational services.
The grand ceremony was held at Nishtar Hall, Peshawar, where students welcomed the BISP chairperson on her arrival and presented floral bouquets.

Chairman Forward System of Education Muhammad Mumtaz Khan, Chief Executive Zafar-ul-Salam, Chief Patron Mrs Hamida Zafar, Managing Director Sarfaraz Khan, and Principal Forward High School Dr Sobia Saqib were also present.
The event honoured the founder of the institution and highlighted its role in educating thousands of students since its establishment in 1950. Alumni, teachers, educationists and guests from various walks of life attended the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, Senator Rubina Khalid appreciated the long-standing contributions of the Forward System of Education and paid tribute to renowned educationist Professor Muhammad Shafi Sabir, acknowledging his services for the promotion of education and calling him a national asset.

She said educational institutions play a crucial role in shaping the intellectual and moral foundations of future generations, adding that education is not limited to degrees but also builds character, awareness and social responsibility.
Highlighting the objectives of BISP, Rubina Khalid said the programme is working to promote economic empowerment, financial inclusion and social protection for over 10 million women across Pakistan. She also referred to the struggle of Shaheed Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto as a symbol of courage and resilience, urging students—especially young girls—to draw inspiration from her vision and contribute positively to society.
The BISP chairperson advised students to pursue education with dedication, honesty and hard work, saying youth are the future of the nation and progress depends on their skills, character and academic excellence. She encouraged them to not only secure a better future for themselves but also contribute to national development.
At the end of the ceremony, the school administration presented a commemorative shield to Senator Rubina Khalid, who in return presented honorary shields to the institution’s management, Board of Directors and principal. Students also presented cultural performances and tableaux, while the institution’s 75th anniversary cake was ceremonially cut.

The Platinum Jubilee ceremony concluded with a renewed commitment to honour educational services and strengthen the journey of learning for future generations.
