The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) has approved Rs400 million for upgrading the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore and its adjoining practice ground to provide players with modern, international-standard facilities.
According to the PHF, the project includes laying a new astroturf and modernising the stadium’s infrastructure and other facilities. Renovation and improvement work will also be carried out as part of the upgrade.
The project is expected to be completed by January 2027.
The upgradation is considered important in view of the upcoming South Asian Games, where hockey matches are scheduled to take place at the venue.
The PHF expects the improvements to provide national hockey players with better training facilities and a more suitable environment for preparing for international competitions.
