ISLAMABAD, September 13: The federal government has activated a digital registration and verification system for its Rs100 per litre petrol relief scheme, allowing eligible motorcycle, rickshaw, Qingqi and small-car owners to register for subsidised fuel.
The system has been developed by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication in coordination with provincial departments, NADRA and telecom operators, with vehicle verification automated through provincial transport and excise records.
Under the scheme, motorcycle and Qingqi owners will be eligible for relief on up to 20 litres of petrol per month, while owners of vehicles with engine capacities of up to 800cc will receive the discount on up to 30 litres per month.
How to Register for Rs100 Petrol Relief
Eligible citizens will need to send an SMS from a SIM registered in their own name using the required details, including their CNIC, vehicle number, provincial code and vehicle registration date.
The ministry said a confirmation message would be sent after successful registration.
Once registered, users will have to send TOK to 9771 to obtain a fuel token before visiting a petrol station.
The token will then be verified at the filling station before subsidised petrol is provided.
When the Petrol Relief Scheme Starts
The subsidised petrol facility will begin in Islamabad from the night between Monday and Tuesday.
It will then be extended to petrol stations across the rest of the country from the night between Wednesday and Thursday.
The IT ministry said the digital system was introduced on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as part of the government’s effort to reduce the impact of higher petrol prices on households, particularly lower- and middle-income commuters.
The scheme targets people who rely on motorcycles, rickshaws and small cars for daily transport and work-related travel.
