TALASH: National Reform Jirga Talash Dooshkhel on Sunday demanded the federal and provincial governments and the Chief of Army Staff to deal with the militants infiltrating the borders, while rejecting the operation. In this regard, a Grand Jirga was organized by the General Secretary of the Jirga, Dr. Noor Muhammad, at his Hujra Kalpani Bazar Talash organized by National Reform Jirga Talash Dushakhel. Jirga members and Dir Qami Pasun (DQP) leaders from different villages of Banda Gayi participated. Jirga President Malik Muhammad Ibrahim Khan Yousafzai, Jirga General Secretary and Anjuman Tajran Talash Bazar President Dr. Noor Muhammad, former Provincial Finance Minister Muzaffar Syed Advocate, Tehsil Chairman Mufti Irfanuddin, Dir Qami Pasoon Patron Chief Malik Jahan Alam Khan , President Malik Shah Naseem Khan, Agiga President Muslim Khan, Ex-President of Talash Jirga Malik Taj Muhammad Khan, Active Members Aftab Alam Khan, Malik Muhammad Irshad, Malik Yasin Khan, Retired Director of Agriculture and Social Worker Shafiqur Rehman, Master Abdul Muhammad Ex-Nazim Riyaz Muhammad Advocate and other leaders expressed their different views. They said that the previous military operations have not yielded any substantial results. Rather, they have had the opposite effect on the people. Therefore, they are against any possible military operation.The speakers said that Dir is a peaceful district and the people here will not allow anyone to disturb the peace.They said that residents are not ready to accept militancy and military operations.They announced that people will not leave their homes at any cost. The speakers demanded the government and security agencies to stop the militants at the borders. In a joint statement, the Jirga said that the people of Pakistan love and trust their army and security agencies.They said that the proposed military action will increase the distance between the people and the army. The declaration said that the Jirga would play its active role to unite people for peace without taking the law into their hands.They also asked the local police to collect the data of the displaced people in the area, while the Jirga members will fully cooperate with the police in this regard. It has been said in the declaration that the federal government should review its decision regarding the determination stabilization operation. It said that if they were forced to leave their homes again like in 2009-10, people would strongly resist.
Later, the participants held a peace walk carrying banners with the slogan “We want peace on our land”. They marched on the streets for some time and raised slogans in favor of peace. The participants then dispersed peacefully
