Under the special directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif and as part of the Suthra Punjab program, Rawalpindi Waste Management Company (RWMC) has launched a cleanliness and awareness campaign in Murree during Eid al-Adha, under the supervision of Deputy Commissioner Murree, Agha Zaheer Abbas Sherazi. The campaign aims to ensure timely disposal of waste, protect the environment, and raise civic awareness during Eid al-Adha. Recently, at an awareness camp set up on Mall Road Murree, RWMC’s Manager Operations, Talha Mir, and the Communication and Social Mobilization team distributed environmentally friendly biodegradable waste bags and awareness pamphlets among citizens. Citizens were given important instructions on cleanliness and informed to dispose of waste at designated places to ensure the city’s cleanliness. During the campaign, a special market awareness campaign was conducted in Mall Road market, GPO Chowk, and other major commercial centers of Murree, where teams met shopkeepers, distributed waste bags, and appealed to them to spread the message of cleanliness during Eid al-Adha. The team also continued door-to-door distribution of waste bags to ensure that every individual has access to this facility. Furthermore, meetings were held with worshippers and Imams in various mosques of Murree during congregational prayers, and they were appealed to spread the message of cleanliness through their sermons and speeches to create collective awareness and prevent filth and stench during Eid days. Banners have been displayed throughout the city with RWMC’s helpline 1139, mobile numbers, and social media accounts to enable citizens to report any complaints or cleanliness-related issues promptly. The Communication and Social Mobilization team has also explained to citizens the procedure for registering complaints, so that relevant teams can be informed promptly in case of any complaint. RWMC’s campaign is not only a significant step towards effective cleanliness arrangements during Eid al-Adha but also an exemplary effort to raise environmental awareness among citizens.”
