Rawalpindi Murder Case: Husband, Worker Arrested

RAWALPINDI: Police investigating the alleged murder of Hina Javed at Askari Apartments in Rawalpindi have arrested her husband, Faisal Asghar Imam, and a domestic worker in connection with the case.

The two suspects were produced before a duty magistrate, who granted police three-day physical remand for further investigation. A seven-member investigation team has also been formed under the supervision of SSP Investigation Saifullah.

Police Collect Forensic Evidence

According to police sources, investigators seized the mobile phones of the victim and people present in the house, along with fingerprints and other evidence from the scene.

Police and forensic experts spent around six hours examining the location and prepared 19 evidence parcels. These reportedly included an alleged weapon, wire allegedly used to make a noose, cloth used to tie the victim’s hands and another piece of cloth reportedly found over her face.

Samples collected during the post-mortem examination have also been sent for forensic analysis. The doctor is expected to give a final opinion after receiving the forensic report.

DNA Tests Planned

Police have decided to conduct DNA tests on both arrested suspects as part of the investigation.

Hina Javed, who had married and moved to her in-laws’ home in 2025, was found dead under suspicious circumstances in a bathroom. According to the case details, her body was found partially hanging from a shower with a wire around her neck.

Her brother, Fahad, subsequently filed a murder case against her husband Faisal Asghar Imam, father-in-law Asghar Imam and a domestic worker.

Father-in-Law Also Named in Case

Police said Hina’s father-in-law and the domestic worker initially reported that intruders had entered the house. Officers who arrived at the scene later found Hina’s body inside the bathroom.

The victim’s father-in-law, who is reportedly more than 75 years old, is also named in the murder case. Police said he would be arrested if the investigation establishes his involvement in the killing.

The investigation remains ongoing, with authorities awaiting forensic results that could provide further evidence about the circumstances surrounding Hina Javed’s death.
