FAISALABAD, Sunday, September 20, 2026: Prime Minister’s Adviser on Political Affairs Rana Sanaullah on Sunday warned that participants of the planned long march would be “properly dealt with” if they refused to back down, as political tensions intensified over the proposed protest.
Speaking at the inauguration of a Rural Health Centre in Faisalabad, Sanaullah said efforts were being made to persuade those planning the long march to reconsider their course.
“We are trying to make the long marchers understand. If they do not back down, they will be properly made to understand,” he said.
He did not elaborate on what measures could be taken if the march proceeded.
Rana Sanaullah addresses rising inflation
Speaking about economic pressures facing the public, Sanaullah acknowledged that inflation had made life difficult for citizens.
He attributed much of the current inflationary pressure to rising petroleum prices and rejected the perception that the government arbitrarily increases fuel prices.
Sanaullah said higher petroleum prices were contributing to inflation globally and argued that Pakistan was also facing the impact of international fuel market conditions.
He questioned the justification for resorting to long marches and confrontation over the prevailing economic situation.
The prime minister’s adviser maintained that the government was attempting to persuade the organisers against proceeding with the march, but reiterated that authorities would respond if they refused to back down.
