Indian actor Raju Kher has revealed that his brother and veteran actor Anupam Kher did not provide him financial assistance during one of the most difficult periods of his life.
According to Indian media reports, Raju Kher made the comments during a recent interview in which he reflected on various experiences from his personal and professional life.
The actor recalled a period when he was facing serious financial difficulties. He said he had sold his house after expecting a new television channel to launch and subsequently purchased another apartment.
Raju said several people were developing pilot programmes for the new channel and contracts had already been signed. He also created a programme titled “Life Ke Liye Kuch Bhi Karega” and invested the money he received from selling his apartment into the project.
However, the situation changed dramatically when the television channel suddenly disappeared.
“I thought my life was perfect. I had a four-bedroom house and everything was settled for my family,” Raju recalled, explaining that no one knew what had happened to the channel until its doors were found locked.
The actor said he subsequently struggled to pay rent and had no other source of financial support.
Raju explained that he could speak to his brother and had hoped Anupam would help him during the difficult period. However, according to Raju, Anupam had also stopped working at the time because he did not want to take on what he considered unusual or unsuitable film projects.
Raju said he therefore felt that his brother could have helped him financially but did not, leaving him to deal with the crisis on his own.
The actor’s comments shed light on a challenging period in his career and his financial difficulties following the unexpected collapse of the television project.
