ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms across several parts of the country from September 12 to September 17, as monsoon currents continue to enter the upper parts of Pakistan.
The weather system is expected to bring rain to Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, the Galiyat region, Jhelum and Chakwal. The PMD has warned that heavy rainfall and hailstorms are possible at some locations, while low-lying areas of Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Peshawar, Faisalabad and Lahore face a risk of urban flooding.
Rain Forecast for Punjab
In Punjab, rain is expected from September 14 to 17 in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Kasur, Okara and Nankana Sahib, among other areas.
The weather department said some parts of the province could receive heavy rainfall and hailstorms during the period.
Rain Expected in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
From September 12 to 17, intermittent rain is forecast in several districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, including Peshawar, Dir, Chitral, Swat, Malakand, Mardan, Nowshera, Charsadda, Swabi, Shangla, Battagram, Buner and Kohat.
Forecast for AJK and Gilgit-Baltistan
Intermittent rain is expected in parts of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, including Neelum Valley, Muzaffarabad and Rawalakot.
The PMD has also forecast thunderstorms and rain in various parts of Gilgit-Baltistan from September 12 through September 17.
Rain Expected in Sindh
In Sindh, rain is expected from September 13 to 16 in Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Mirpurkhas and Tharparkar.
Intermittent thunderstorms and rain are also forecast in Umerkot, Badin, Karachi and adjoining areas.
Residents in vulnerable and low-lying urban areas have been advised to remain alert as heavy rainfall could temporarily affect drainage and cause localized urban flooding
