Islamabad, October 9, 2026: The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast rain, thunderstorms and possible hailstorms in several parts of the country over the coming days, warning that strong winds and hail could damage infrastructure, electricity poles, solar panels, billboards and vehicles.
According to the department, a westerly weather system is expected to enter the country’s upper regions over the weekend and may persist until October 15.
Rain Forecast for Punjab and Islamabad
Punjab and Islamabad may experience strong winds, thunderstorms and rainfall on October 10, 11, 13 and 14. Hailstorms are also possible at isolated locations.
The forecast indicates that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Azad Jammu and Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan may receive rainfall between October 10 and 15.
In Balochistan, isolated rainfall is expected in parts of Zhob, Barkhan and Musakhel.
Possible Damage to Crops and Infrastructure
The department warned that strong winds, gusts and hailstorms could disrupt daily activities and damage vulnerable infrastructure, electricity poles, billboards, solar panels and vehicles.
Standing crops in plain areas may also be affected, while landslides are possible in mountainous regions.
Temperatures are expected to fall by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius during the weather system.
Authorities and residents in the affected areas are advised to remain alert to official weather updates and take precautions to protect vehicles, outdoor equipment and vulnerable structures.
