RAHIM YAR KHAN: A woman was allegedly killed by her husband in the Dary Sanghi area of Rahim Yar Khan, while the suspect later died in an exchange of fire with police, officials said.
Police identified the suspect as Irshad Sanghi and alleged that he killed his wife, Saima Bibi, with a knife during the night. Following the incident, police launched a search operation to arrest him.
Suspect Killed During Exchange of Fire
According to police, City C-Division Police attempted to stop suspicious motorcyclists at a checkpoint while searching for the suspect. The riders allegedly broke through the checkpoint and opened fire on the police team while fleeing.
SHO C-Division Younis Abbasi said police returned fire, during which Irshad Sanghi was killed. Police alleged that he was wanted in connection with his wife’s killing.
A search operation remains underway to locate the other suspects who fled the scene, police said.
Bodies to Be Handed Over After Post-Mortem
Police said the bodies of Saima Bibi and Irshad Sanghi will be handed over to their respective families after post-mortem examinations are completed.
