KARACHI: Sindh Governor Nihal Hashmi and Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah visited Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on the death anniversary of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and paid tribute to his services to the country.
The governor and chief minister laid floral wreaths at the mausoleum and offered Fateha. Provincial ministers, advisers, special assistants and the Additional Inspector General were also present during the visit.
Representatives of Pakistan’s three armed forces also visited Mazar-e-Quaid, laid floral wreaths and offered prayers.
Governor Calls for Unity and Strong Institutions
Speaking to the media, Governor Nihal Hashmi said the visit was intended to pay tribute to Quaid-e-Azam on his death anniversary. He recalled Jinnah’s commitment to Pakistan and said the principles outlined by the country’s founder should continue to guide the nation.
Hashmi said Pakistan should remain united and work towards becoming an example for the world. He also called for strengthening the country’s constitutional and democratic system and urged people to work towards fulfilling Quaid-e-Azam’s vision for Pakistan.
The governor also commented on public demonstrations, saying peaceful protest was a fundamental right but that the impact on patients, students and ordinary citizens should also be considered.
Murad Ali Shah Pays Tribute
Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah said the vision associated with Allama Iqbal had ultimately led to the creation of Pakistan.
He prayed for Pakistan’s continued unity and stability and paid tribute to the services and legacy of the country’s founder.
