LAHORE, Tuesday, July 28, 2026: Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power (Private) Limited has paid a Rs2 billion interim dividend to the Punjab government for the financial year 2026-27, reflecting improved financial performance at the state-owned renewable energy company.
Punjab Energy Secretary Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti briefed Provincial Energy Minister Malik Faisal Ayub Khokhar on the dividend payment during a meeting in Lahore.
The minister described the payment as a significant financial milestone for the provincial Energy Department, saying the earnings would contribute to Punjab’s public welfare programmes, development projects and relief initiatives.
Khokhar attributed QASPL’s performance to professional management, stronger corporate governance and improved financial oversight. He said the company had emerged as a profitable public-sector enterprise and demonstrated how transparent administration and merit-based decision-making could strengthen government-owned institutions.
He congratulated Energy Secretary Muhammad Ajmal Bhatti, QASPL Chief Executive Officer Muhammad Badar-ul-Munir, the company’s board of directors and its management team for delivering the dividend.
The minister said subsidiary companies operating under the Punjab Energy Department would continue to support the province’s economic development, financial stability and public welfare agenda.
He also directed the department’s companies to expand cooperation with private investors and accelerate investment in solar, wind, hydropower and other renewable energy projects.
According to the minister, increased investment in clean energy would help Punjab improve energy security, reduce dependence on conventional power sources and create a stronger foundation for long-term economic growth.
The dividend payment comes as the Punjab government seeks to increase the financial contribution of public-sector companies while expanding renewable energy capacity across the province.
