ISLAMABAD, October 9, 2026: Punjab’s Special Economic Zones are set to receive more than Rs76 billion in potential investment after 34 business applications were approved in September with facilitation from the Special Investment Facilitation Council, or SIFC.

According to the SIFC, the approvals mark a significant step in accelerating industrial activity and improving the investment environment across the province’s special economic zones.

The proposed investment spans key sectors including textiles, chemicals, agricultural processing and other industries, with more than 7,000 potential jobs expected to be created.

The SIFC said its continued facilitation and follow-up helped speed up progress on pending business applications in the special economic zones, making it easier for investors to move forward with projects.

The development is part of wider efforts to attract industrial investment, reduce procedural delays and strengthen business facilitation for local and foreign investors.

Officials expect the new investments to support industrial expansion, increase production capacity and stimulate economic activity at the local level.

The creation of more than 7,000 potential jobs is also expected to contribute to employment generation in areas linked to manufacturing, processing and related services.

Pakistan has increasingly focused on special economic zones as a way to attract investment, support industrialisation and expand value-added production.

The SIFC has been playing a central role in coordinating with government departments and investors to remove bottlenecks, speed up approvals and improve the overall investment climate.

The latest approvals in Punjab are expected to strengthen investor confidence and contribute to broader economic growth if the proposed projects move into implementation.

Greater investment in special economic zones could also help Pakistan improve productivity, expand exports and support longer-term goals for sustainable economic development.
