Punjab Allocates Rs310 Million For She Threads Program To Empower Women

LAHORE: The Punjab government has allocated Rs310 million for the “She Threads” Program, a women-focused initiative aimed at promoting skills development and employment opportunities in the textile sector.

According to a spokesperson for the Chief Minister’s Office, the program has been launched under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz to support women from rural areas through vocational training and financial assistance.

Under the initiative, eligible participants will receive a monthly stipend of Rs15,000 during the training period. A transport allowance will also be provided to facilitate their participation in the program.

Training Opportunities For Rural Women

The She Threads Program is open to women aged between 18 and 45 years who have completed at least middle-level education. The initiative specifically targets women from villages and rural communities across Punjab.

Officials say the program is designed to equip participants with practical skills that can help them access employment opportunities and contribute to household incomes.

Textile Sector Courses Underway

According to the Chief Minister’s Office, the program includes 10 specialized training courses related to the textile industry.

Training sessions are currently being conducted in Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, and Faisalabad, which are among Punjab’s major textile-producing regions.

Authorities say the initiative aims to strengthen women’s participation in the workforce by providing industry-relevant skills and financial support during the training period.

The provincial government has described the program as part of broader efforts to enhance women’s economic empowerment and improve access to vocational training opportunities across Punjab.
