LAHORE, July 30, 2026: Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan met newly appointed Advocate General Punjab Barrister Zafarullah Khan on Thursday and discussed legal reforms, institutional coordination and measures to strengthen the province’s justice system.

Punjab Law Secretary Asif Bilal Lodhi was also present during the meeting, according to an official statement.

The law minister congratulated Barrister Zafarullah Khan on assuming office and expressed confidence that his legal experience and understanding of constitutional matters would help him effectively discharge the responsibilities of Advocate General Punjab.

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan said the Punjab government remained committed to constitutional supremacy, the rule of law and the timely delivery of justice under the leadership of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.

He said the Advocate General’s Office plays a central constitutional role by representing the provincial government before courts, providing legal and constitutional advice and assisting the judiciary in accordance with the law.

Barrister Zafarullah Khan thanked the minister for his good wishes and reaffirmed that his office would continue to assist the courts within the framework of the Constitution and prevailing laws.

He said the Advocate General’s Office would work to ensure effective representation of the Punjab government in legal proceedings while using available professional expertise to support the rule of law.

The two officials also exchanged views on improving coordination between legal institutions and advancing reforms aimed at making the justice system more effective and responsive.
