Pakistan Bar Council delegation meets Punjab law minister over lawyers’ issues

LAHORE, May 20: A Pakistan Bar Council delegation met Punjab Law Minister Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan in Lahore to discuss issues faced by the lawyers’ community, including funding needs and improvement of judicial infrastructure.

The delegation, led by Pakistan Bar Council Vice Chairman Pir Masood Chishti, raised matters concerning lawyers across Punjab, with particular focus on the Vehari Bar. The meeting discussed provision of funds for bar associations and steps to improve facilities linked to the justice system.

Rana Muhammad Iqbal Khan assured the delegation that issues of the legal fraternity would be addressed on a priority basis. He also directed the authorities concerned to ensure timely provision of funds to all tehsil bars across Punjab.

The law minister said lawyers play an important role in the justice delivery system and that the provincial government was taking measures for their welfare and the resolution of their problems.

He said the Punjab government was working with the legal fraternity to strengthen the justice system and improve related services.

Barrister Javed Iqbal and Deputy Admin Secretary Law Aitazaz Aslam were also present at the meeting.

The delegation included former Vehari Bar president Chaudhry Nawazish Gujjar, Matloob Hussain Joiya, Abdul Hameed Panda, Muhammad Tahir Joiya, Rao Shiraz Raza and Muhammad Tayyab.
