LAHORE: Punjab has expanded facilities for students and women seeking motorcycle and scooty driving skills, with e-bike and scooty initiatives, free training centres and dedicated Gen-Z counters established in Lahore.
Under the Punjab government’s initiative, five driving training schools have been established for students, while Gen-Z scooty counters have been activated at all licensing centres in Lahore to facilitate young applicants.
Students seeking a scooty licence are required to visit the relevant centre with their Computerised National Identity Card (CNIC) or Form-B and a guardian.
According to available figures, more than 172,000 motorcycle licences and 6,546 juvenile permits have been issued so far.
Five Scooty Training Centres in Lahore
Scooty training is being offered at Aabshar Driving School, Liberty Khidmat Markaz and Greater Iqbal Park. Additional training facilities have also been established at Traffic Police Lines Manawan and LOS Ferozepur Road.
According to the Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Lahore, women are being provided free scooty training at the LOS Ferozepur Road centre, along with dedicated facilities designed to make the licensing and training process more accessible.
CTO Syed Abdul Rahim Shirazi said thousands of women had received driving training through Lahore Traffic Police schools. He said the training programme was continuing to help women develop independent driving skills.
The scooty schools also provide a women-to-women training service. Officials said five centres in Lahore currently offer scooty training for women, while 12 centres provide car-driving training.
The traffic police said the initiatives are intended to improve access to driving skills and licensing services for students and women across Lahore.
