PESHAWAR: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has reportedly finalised an initial plan for its September 27 long march towards Islamabad, with sit-ins and camps proposed at multiple locations across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to party sources.
Under the reported plan, PTI workers would move towards Islamabad in stages, with party organisations assigned locations along the motorway and Grand Trunk Road. Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi is expected to lead the march from Peshawar. The party has previously confirmed September 27 as the date for the march.
Proposed sit-ins and camps across KP
According to the reported plan, Peshawar, Khyber, Nowshera and Akora Khattak have been assigned locations around the Attock Bridge, while Malakand, Swabi, Mardan and Charsadda have been allocated locations along the motorway.
In southern districts, Khushal Garh has been identified for a sit-in. Party organisations have reportedly been provided details of the proposed locations, while a meeting has been scheduled in Peshawar to discuss the final strategy.
In Haripur, camps have been identified at Hattar, Khanpur, Jhari Kas and Makhniyal, as well as along the Hazara Motorway. In Abbottabad, Barian and Kohala have been designated, while Topi in Swabi and the M-1 Motorway have also been listed as proposed camp locations.
Other locations include Khairabad Kund near the Attock Bridge in Nowshera, Kundal in Lakki Marwat and Khushal Garh in Kohat.
Party lawmakers asked to participate
PTI’s National Assembly and provincial assembly members, along with senators, have reportedly been directed to participate in the camps and assist with arrangements.
District organisations will be responsible for providing food, drinking water and other basic facilities for participants at the camps.
Party sources said the camps are intended to facilitate workers and that sit-ins could be held at locations where the march encounters restrictions or roadblocks.
The September 27 date has previously been reaffirmed by KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi and other PTI leaders. The Islamabad High Court has also taken up a petition concerning the planned PTI protests and long march.
The detailed arrangements remain subject to the final strategy to be discussed by the party leadership in Peshawar.
