Pay PTCL Pensioners’ Dues via Etisalat in Accordance with Supreme Court Decisions: PTCL Pensioners’ Appeal to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif
*Karachi
Following a meeting held at the Karachi Press Club, PTCL pensioners Ayaz Jafri, Abdul Khaliq, Syed Rashid Anwar, Jafar Shah, Anwar Hussain, Wajid Hashmi, Shoaib Saleem, Mushtaq-ur-Rehman, and Athar Javed Sufi issued a joint statement appealing to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to obligate the Etisalat management to immediately pay the dues of PTCL pensioners.
The Government of Pakistan was the guarantor in the privatization sale of PTCL. PTCL pensioners have been suffering under oppression since 2010; despite explicit government guarantees and the Supreme Court’s decisions of 2015 and 2025, these pensioners remain deprived of their legitimate rights.
In their joint statement, the pensioners demanded:
1. The Government of Pakistan fulfill its duty as a guarantor.
2. The Supreme Court of Pakistan enforce its decisions.
3. PTCL and PTET (Pakistan Telecommunication Employees Trust) immediately cease the illegal deductions from monthly pensions and refund all illegal deductions made since 2010 back to the pensioners.
4. Commuted pension be paid to pensioners reaching the age of 72.
It is worth noting that the Senate Standing Committee also recommended in favor of paying the pensioners’ dues. Pensioners expressed these same demands during their protest at the Karachi Press Club on July 30, 2026.
