Oil prices moved higher as negotiations between the United States and Iran over a peace agreement and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz remained at an impasse.

US President Donald Trump responded on Monday to Iranian conditions for a peace agreement with demands of his own, including compensation for people killed in wars, attacks and protests.

The latest exchange added uncertainty to diplomatic efforts surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, a crucial route for global energy supplies.
