KARACHI: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended the week under pressure on Friday, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index slipping into negative territory after a volatile session marked by early gains and renewed selling.
The market opened on a positive note, with the KSE-100 initially gaining more than 180 points and climbing to around 168,818.
The early momentum, however, failed to hold as selling pressure emerged, pushing the benchmark back below the previous close of 168,636.85 points during the session.
Friday’s trading remained volatile, with the index moving between gains and losses as investors stayed cautious following the sharp decline recorded in the previous session.
The KSE-100 had fallen by 1,332.47 points in the previous trading session to close at 168,636.85. During that session, the benchmark had briefly crossed the 170,000-point level before reversing course.
Buying interest surfaced at different stages of Friday’s trade but was not strong enough to sustain the market’s early advance.
The broader market also remained under pressure, with several major indices trading lower during the session, according to Pakistan Stock Exchange data.
Investors continued to assess prevailing market conditions alongside broader economic and geopolitical developments that could affect sentiment.
The latest performance extends a period of heightened volatility at the PSX, with the KSE-100 recording sharp movements in both directions in recent sessions.
