PSX Gains 398 Points on Monday, August 17 as KSE-100 Closes Above 180,500

ISLAMABAD, Monday, August 17, 2026: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended Monday’s session in positive territory, with the benchmark KSE-100 Index gaining 397.83 points, or 0.22%, to close at 180,502.45 points.

The index had settled at 180,104.61 points in the previous trading session.

Trading activity strengthened during the day, with 1.048 billion shares changing hands in the ready market compared with 891.332 million shares in the previous session.

The total traded value rose to Rs48.325 billion from Rs36.690 billion, while market capitalisation increased to Rs20.199 trillion from Rs20.130 trillion.

Despite the positive close in the benchmark index, the broader market remained mixed.

Out of 498 companies traded in the ready market, 197 closed higher, 276 declined and 25 remained unchanged.

The figures showed that while the KSE-100 maintained its upward momentum, selling pressure remained visible across a larger number of individual stocks.

Cnergyico PK Leads Trading Volume

Cnergyico PK emerged as the most actively traded stock of the session, with 312.518 million shares changing hands.

It was followed by D.S. Industries Limited, which recorded a volume of 124.770 million shares, while K-Electric Limited stood third with 30.717 million shares traded.

Higher overall market turnover reflected increased investor activity compared with the previous session.

Top Gainers and Losers at PSX

Among the leading gainers, PIA Holding Company Limited B rose by Rs516.46 to close at Rs17,600.

Attock Refinery Limited also posted a strong gain, advancing by Rs88.42 to settle at Rs1,125.99.

On the losing side, Rafhan Maize Products Company Limited declined by Rs91.16 to close at Rs9,227.01.

Hoechst Pakistan Limited fell by Rs54.55 to settle at Rs3,930.45.

Futures Market Activity Increases

Trading activity also strengthened in the futures, or DFC, market.

Turnover stood at 238.939 million shares, with a traded value of Rs13.289 billion, compared with 225.965 million shares worth Rs10.542 billion in the previous session.

Of the 305 companies traded in the DFC market, 151 advanced, 151 declined and three remained unchanged.

Monday’s close above the 180,500-point mark kept the KSE-100 in positive territory, while rising turnover and market capitalisation pointed to stronger trading activity.

However, with more companies declining than advancing in the ready market, the session also reflected a mixed underlying trend despite gains in the benchmark index.
