ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) closed slightly higher on Monday as the benchmark KSE-100 Index gained 124.95 points to settle at 175,927.74, supported by higher trading activity despite mixed market sentiment.
The PSX benchmark index rose 0.07% from the previous close of 175,802.79, while overall trading volume increased, although declining stocks outnumbered gainers across the broader market.
Trading volume rises
A total of 675.921 million shares were traded in the ready market, compared with 621.024 million shares in the previous session.
The value of traded shares increased to Rs30.267 billion from Rs29.884 billion, while market capitalisation eased to Rs19.763 trillion from Rs19.790 trillion.
Of the 492 companies traded during the session, 165 advanced, 277 declined and 50 remained unchanged, reflecting cautious investor sentiment despite the benchmark index ending in positive territory.
Most active stocks
Cnergyico PK topped the volume chart with 166.060 million shares traded.
Pakistan Refinery followed with 49.159 million shares, while TPL Properties recorded 38.437 million shares in turnover.
Top movers
Unilever Pakistan Foods emerged as the day’s top gainer, climbing Rs211 to close at Rs25,440.
Baba Farid Sugar Mills advanced Rs41.86 to Rs460.42.
Among the major losers, Khairpur Sugar Mills fell Rs187.15 to Rs1,684.32, while Khyber Textile Mills declined Rs128.16 to close at Rs2,071.22.
Futures market
Trading activity also strengthened in the futures market.
Turnover reached 161.308 million shares worth Rs7.945 billion, compared with 154.248 million shares valued at Rs7.010 billion in the previous session.
Out of 305 futures-listed companies, 135 advanced, 164 declined and six remained unchanged.
The session reflected steady investor participation as the market continued to track corporate earnings, macroeconomic developments and broader investor sentiment.
