Pre-Budget Digitization Meeting Held at Ministry of Railways

The Ministry of Railways held a pre-budget meeting on 29th May Islamabad to discuss the future of digital transformation in Pakistan Railways. The meeting was chaired by Minister for Railways, Mr. Muhammad Hanif Abbasi.

During the meeting, Minister Abbasi repeated his vision to fully digitize the railway system. He said that the government is committed to making railway services modern, transparent, and efficient for passengers. He announced that a complete digitalization framework for the years 2025 to 2030 has been prepared and will be given top priority in the upcoming budget.

It was decided in the meeting that special funds will be allocated for the modernization and upgrade of railway infrastructure. This will help improve the performance and quality of railway services. The government will also promote partnerships under Government-to-Government (G2G) and Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models to bring private investment into the railway sector.

The budget will also include special funding to expand the e-ticketing system across the country. This will make ticketing easier, faster, and more transparent for travelers. Additional funds will support the development and improvement of the “Rabta” mobile app, so the public can stay better connected with railway services.

Investment will also be made in the branding of railway stations, foot overbridges, and railway bridges to improve their look and public image. Financial support will also be given for staff training and skill-building programs to help railway employees meet modern demands.

The Minister approved several steps to ensure transparency and digital inclusion, so every citizen can have equal access to railway services. Resources will be used to regularly monitor and review the progress of all projects to ensure timely results.

Minister Abbasi stressed that the digital revolution of Pakistan Railways from 2025 to 2030 will open a new chapter in the country’s transport history. He said timely approval of the budget is essential to achieve these goals.
