LOWER DIR: The Pakistan Red Crescent Society (PRCS) Lower Dir Branch, in collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), organized a one-day seminar on “Risk Awareness and Promotion of Safe Behaviors” (RASB) for journalists of the District Press Club Timergara.
The seminar focused on helping journalists recognize and manage risks they may encounter while reporting from emergency and sensitive situations.
Zubair Samad, Deputy Director of the PRCS Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Branch, delivered a detailed briefing on risks associated with explosives, complex post-war situations, disasters and accidents. He also discussed personal safety measures, timely responses and principles of responsible reporting in sensitive environments.
District Secretary Muhammad Islam, PRCS Lower Dir Focal Person Bakht Rehman, District Press Club Timergara President Haleem Asad and a large number of local journalists attended the seminar.
Speakers emphasized that journalists often operate on the front lines during emergencies and natural disasters and play an important role in providing timely information and public awareness. They stressed that media workers should also be equipped with appropriate safety knowledge while performing their professional duties.

They said professional safety workshops such as the RASB seminar can help media workers better understand potential field hazards, adopt safer practices and continue informing the public responsibly during sensitive situations.
The organizers said the training was aimed at promoting greater risk awareness and safer behavior among journalists working in challenging field environments.
