LAHORE: Investigators probing the murder of PTI leader Abdullah Tahir have uncovered what they describe as an alleged honey trap used to obtain information about the victim’s movements before the killing. According to investigation sources, the victim’s driver was allegedly approached online by a 22-year-old woman who later provided information to the suspects.
Police sources said the alleged contact was made through TikTok nearly two months before the attack. The investigation is ongoing, and the claims are based on police inquiries that have not yet been tested in court.
Driver Allegedly Contacted Through TikTok
According to investigators, the woman first contacted Abdullah Tahir’s driver, Asghar, via TikTok and gradually established communication with him.
Police allege that after gaining the driver’s trust, the woman was able to obtain information about Abdullah Tahir’s movements, which was allegedly shared with the suspects.
Video Call Allegedly Took Place on Day of Attack
Investigation sources claim that on the day of the incident, the driver and the woman were connected through a video call after Abdullah Tahir arrived at his clinic.
Police allege the suspects used the call to confirm the victim’s presence at the clinic and verify that no security guards were accompanying him. Investigators also claim the suspects had already reached Gurumangat Road and allegedly used a drone camera to monitor the victim before the attack.
Investigation Continues
According to the police, the driver acknowledged during questioning that he had been deceived through the alleged honey trap.
The Crime Control Department (CCD) said the investigation remains underway. Police added that the suspected main shooter, identified as Arslan, has not yet been arrested.
