Police have arrested a female police constable after her husband was found dead under suspicious circumstances at a residence in Karachi’s Orangi Town area, authorities said.
The case has drawn attention due to the circumstances surrounding the death and the victim’s recent marriage. Investigators say initial evidence points toward a possible homicide, though the final cause of death will be determined through forensic and post-mortem examinations.
According to police, the victim, identified as Hamza, was found hanging inside his home in Mominabad. Authorities reported that his hands and feet were tied, a cloth had been placed in his mouth, and marks of violence were visible on his body.
Police said the deceased had recently married a woman identified as Dua, a serving police constable. The couple’s wedding reception was reportedly scheduled to take place on June 18.
Murder Case Registered
A murder case has been registered at Mominabad Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s father.
The FIR names the victim’s wife, Dua, and her former husband, Fahad, as suspects in the case. Police confirmed that Dua has been taken into custody as part of the ongoing investigation.
According to investigators, the woman initially informed family members that Hamza had died by suicide. However, police said preliminary evidence collected from the scene suggests the death may not have been self-inflicted.
Investigation Underway
The victim’s brother told investigators that Hamza was found hanging while his hands and feet were bound.
Crime Scene Unit officials collected evidence from the residence, and police said multiple aspects of the case are being examined. Authorities are awaiting the post-mortem report, which is expected to provide further details about the cause and circumstances of death.
Police said the investigation remains ongoing and no final conclusions have yet been reached.
