A police constable was injured after unidentified armed individuals opened fire on a police patrol in Islamabad’s I-14 area, officials said on Wednesday, triggering a search operation in the vicinity.
According to police, the incident took place on the SRO (service road) in Sector I-14, within the jurisdiction of Thana Noon, where an Eagle Squad patrol unit came under fire during routine patrolling. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the assault.
Constable Saleh Muhammad sustained a gunshot wound to his right leg and was shifted to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS), where he is receiving medical treatment. His condition is reported to be stable.
Following the incident, police cordoned off the area and launched a search operation to trace the suspects. Evidence was also collected from the crime scene as part of the ongoing investigation.
Authorities have not yet confirmed the identity or motive of the attackers. Further updates are expected as the investigation progresses.
