Warsaw: Poland’s talismanic striker Robert Lewandowski was injured after 32 minutes of Monday’s 2-1 win over Turkey in Warsaw.
Hellas Verona team-mate Karol Swiderski left the field after injuring his right ankle while celebrating Poland’s 12th-minute lead.
The line was inevitably leveled with Turkey after 77 minutes, but Nikola Zalewski won in extra time.
Poland, who open their Euro campaign against the Netherlands on June 16, lost Juventus striker Arkadius Milik to injury against Ukraine on Friday.
Juve “underwent elective arthroscopic meniscectomy surgery on the medial meniscus of his left knee,” Juve said Monday, without giving a recovery timeline.
“The player will begin treatment tomorrow with the aim of resuming competitive activities as soon as possible,” the statement said. Poland is in Group D at Euro 2024, followed by Austria and France.
Captain Lewandowski, who has scored 82 times in 149 games for his country, is 35 years old and will be playing in his fourth European Championship. Turkey is in Group F and will play Georgia, Portugal and the Czech Republic on June 18.
