PMAS-Arid University Equips Faculty With AI Skills to Transform Teaching and Research

RAWALPINDI: Pir Mehr Ali Shah Arid Agriculture University Rawalpindi (PMAS-AAUR) has concluded a two-week faculty development programme on Artificial Intelligence (AI) aimed at strengthening the digital skills of teachers and enhancing the use of AI in higher education, research and academic productivity.

The training, titled “Artificial Intelligence for Everyone,” was organized by the University Institute of Information Technology (UIIT) from July 13 to 24, 2026, with 45 faculty members from various academic departments completing the programme.

Vice Chancellor highlights AI’s growing role in higher education

Speaking at the closing ceremony, Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Qamar-uz-Zaman said Artificial Intelligence has become a key driver of transformation across education, research, industry and public services worldwide.

He emphasized that universities must equip both faculty members and students with AI knowledge and practical skills to remain competitive in an increasingly technology-driven environment.

The vice chancellor said faculty trained in modern AI tools can create more engaging learning experiences while helping students use emerging technologies responsibly and ethically.

Programme focused on practical AI integration

Director of the University Institute of Information Technology, Prof. Dr. Yaser Hafeez, thanked the vice chancellor, trainers and participants for contributing to the programme’s success.

He said the training demonstrated practical ways to integrate AI tools into higher education while maintaining academic integrity.

According to Dr. Hafeez, UIIT plans to continue organizing similar capacity-building programmes for faculty members and students to strengthen digital competencies and encourage the responsible use of emerging technologies across the university.

Certificates awarded to participants

The programme concluded with the distribution of certificates and shields among trainers and participating faculty members in recognition of their successful completion of the training
