NEW YORK, September 24 — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has invited Pakistani entrepreneurs and professionals based in the United States to invest in Pakistan, highlighting government efforts to improve the business environment and facilitate investors.
The prime minister made the remarks during meetings with delegations of Pakistani business leaders and professionals working in the United States across information technology, artificial intelligence, automobiles, energy, construction and other sectors.
Shehbaz described overseas Pakistani entrepreneurs and professionals as ambassadors of the country, saying their achievements and contributions abroad help strengthen Pakistan’s international image.
He said the government was working to create a more business-friendly environment and provide greater facilitation to investors seeking opportunities in Pakistan.
The prime minister also highlighted reforms at the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), saying measures introduced by the government had helped address longstanding concerns of the business community.
Discussing agriculture, Shehbaz said the government was taking steps on a priority basis to encourage innovation, modernisation and development in the sector.
Members of the business and professional delegations welcomed government initiatives in agriculture, industry and exports and appreciated reforms being introduced at the FBR.
Chairman Prime Minister’s Youth Programme Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Bilal Bin Saqib, Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations Asim Iftikhar Ahmad and Ambassador to the United States Rizwan Ahmed Sheikh attended the meeting.
Prime Minister’s Spokesperson for Foreign Media Musharraf Zaidi, Overseas Pakistanis Foundation Chairman Syed Qamar Raza, Managing Director Afzaal Bhatti and other senior officials were also present.
