LAHORE: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has ordered the immediate repatriation of Pakistani citizens killed and injured in Somalia, with seven Pakistanis flown back to Karachi on Sunday.

According to an official spokesperson, four injured Pakistanis — Usman Ghani, Aqeel Khan, Amin bin Shams and Yasir Khan — were brought to Karachi aboard Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-694.

The bodies of three Pakistanis who lost their lives — Rafiullah Khan, Syed Kashif Umar and Mahmood Ahmed Ansari — were also repatriated on the same flight.

The aircraft was scheduled to arrive at Karachi airport at 4:40pm on Sunday.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia Atif Aziz and Ambassador to Djibouti Aqsa Nawaz were present at Addis Ababa Airport to see off the injured citizens and the remains of the deceased.

The repatriation was carried out on the directives of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who monitored the process to ensure coordination and prompt assistance.

The government said immediate measures were taken to facilitate the safe return of the injured Pakistanis and the bodies of those who had died in Somalia.
