PIEAS career fair highlights Pakistan’s next wave of innovators

ISLAMABAD, May 18: More than 120 student projects were showcased as the Pakistan Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences concluded its Open House and Career Fair 2026 in Islamabad.

The event brought final-year students, academics, industry representatives and around 50 national and international companies together on one platform. Organisers said the fair was aimed at promoting innovation, research, career guidance and stronger links between universities and industry.

Students from different engineering and scientific disciplines presented projects focused on emerging technologies, applied research, industrial solutions and creative problem-solving.

Industry representatives appreciated the technical quality and practical relevance of the projects, according to organisers.

The fair also provided students with opportunities for professional networking, internships, training and future employment prospects.

Industry and academia come together

The event was held under the auspices of the Pakistan Atomic Energy Commission. The ceremony began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, followed by the national anthem.

In her welcome address, PIEAS Rector Dr Anila Usman said young engineers and scientists were important for Pakistan’s future. She said the fair reflected students’ talent, hard work and innovative thinking.

Dr Anila Usman said PIEAS remained committed to preparing young people for national progress through modern education, research and technology.

She added that such initiatives were important for building sustainable collaboration between educational institutions and the industrial sector.

Participants and guests praised the event as a useful platform for promoting innovation, professional growth and industry-academia cooperation.
