Australian Footballer Tete Yengi Announces He Has Embraced Islam
Australian footballer Tete Yengi has announced that he has embraced Islam, saying the decision followed a long period of personal reflection, study and spiritual exploration rather than a single emotional moment.
Speaking after reciting the Islamic declaration of faith at a mosque, the 25-year-old footballer said his decision was made with conviction and brought him a sense of peace.
Visit to Mosque Marked a Turning Point
According to media reports, Yengi said he initially visited a mosque in Adelaide out of curiosity to observe how Muslims worship and to learn more about the faith.
During his visit, he met Islamic scholar Mufti Ismail Menk after Friday prayers. Yengi said the conversation encouraged him to learn more about Islam and ultimately led to his decision to embrace the religion.
Decision Followed Personal Reflection
Yengi said his journey toward Islam had begun well before that visit and developed gradually through reading, reflection and personal experiences.
He said his decision to convert was based on personal belief and careful consideration, adding that he now feels a deep sense of inner peace.
The footballer has received messages of support from many social media users following his announcement.
