KASUR: Two Pakistani civilians killed in what local accounts described as unprovoked firing by Indian forces along the Pakistan-India border were laid to rest in their native village amid a large turnout at their funeral prayers.
The victims, identified as Azmat Rasool and Mohsin Jatt, were buried in Jattan Wali Haveli, Ladhar, after funeral prayers attended by a large number of local residents.
Family members of the two men said they remained resolute despite the loss and strongly condemned the cross-border firing.
Relatives accused Indian forces of targeting unarmed civilians and said such actions would not weaken the resolve of people living in Pakistan’s border areas.
“If the Indian forces have the courage, they should face the Pakistani nation directly instead of targeting civilians,” family members said.
Residents of nearby border communities also condemned the incident, describing the reported firing as a shameful act and calling for accountability over attacks on civilians.
The incident has renewed concern among communities living close to the border, where civilians remain vulnerable whenever tensions rise.
