A Pakistani military cadet has earned international recognition after being declared the “Overall Best Foreign Military Cadet” at Australia’s Royal Military College, marking another milestone for Pakistan’s overseas military training achievements.
Cadet Sardar Arsam Abbas received the award during the passing-out parade ceremony held in Australia on May 5, 2026. The event was attended by members of the diplomatic corps, including Irfan Shaukat.
The honour places Arsam Abbas among a select group of Pakistani cadets who have achieved distinction at one of Australia’s leading military training institutions. Officials said the achievement reflects the professional standards and discipline associated with the Pakistan Army.
According to official figures, Arsam Abbas is the 14th Pakistani cadet to receive the “Best Foreign Military Cadet” award in Australia. Since 2009, a total of 46 Pakistani cadets have completed training at the institution, while seven Pakistan Army officers have served there as faculty members since 2013.
The achievement also revived memories of Lieutenant Nasir Hussain Khalid Tamgha-e-Basalat, who had received the same distinction in Australia before embracing martyrdom during an operation in North Waziristan in 2020.
Military officials said the continued success of Pakistani cadets abroad highlights the country’s growing reputation in international military education and professional defence training programs.
Pakistan Army training gains global recognition
Pakistan’s participation in overseas military training programs has expanded over the years through defence cooperation initiatives with partner countries. Military academies in countries including Australia regularly host Pakistani cadets for advanced professional training.
Officials believe such recognitions help strengthen Pakistan’s image internationally while promoting defence ties and professional collaboration between armed forces.
