ISLAMABAD, October 9, 2026: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned repeated Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, reaffirming that Pakistan will continue to stand “shoulder to shoulder” with the Kingdom in the face of security threats.

In a statement issued on Friday, the prime minister expressed grief over the loss of civilian lives and injuries caused by attacks targeting Saudi territory, including King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and Abha International Airport.

Shehbaz Sharif said Pakistan stood in unwavering solidarity with the Saudi leadership and people and fully supported the Kingdom’s right to defend its citizens, cities and critical infrastructure.

He also praised the vigilance and professionalism of the Saudi armed forces and coalition forces for intercepting multiple ballistic missiles and working to protect civilian lives and vital installations.

The prime minister reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi Arabia’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and security under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement and decisions taken by its Strategic Political and Defense Committee.

He called on the Houthi militia to immediately halt attacks on Saudi Arabia.

“Pakistan will continue to stand shoulder to shoulder with Saudi Arabia in the face of these threats,” the prime minister said.

The statement comes amid a sharp escalation in Houthi attacks on Saudi territory. Missile strikes targeting Riyadh airport this week killed three Saudi nationals and injured several others, while heightened security risks have also caused major flight disruptions.

Regional tensions have intensified as Saudi Arabia and its partners step up defensive coordination under the recently activated Makkah Joint Defence Agreement.
