KARACHI: Pakistan secured an unassailable lead in the three-match women’s T20I series after defeating Zimbabwe women’s national cricket team by 67 runs in the second match at National Bank Stadium on Thursday.
An unbeaten half-century from Eyman Fatima and a disciplined bowling performance helped Pakistan take a 2-0 lead ahead of the final match of the series.
Chasing a target of 171, Zimbabwe were restricted to 103/8 in their 20 overs. Captain Nomvelo Sibanda remained the top scorer for the visitors with an unbeaten 18, while Kudzai Chigora added 14 not out.
Eyman Fatima stars with unbeaten 79
Pakistan posted 170/4 after being asked to bat first, helped by an unbeaten 78-run partnership between Eyman Fatima and Natalia Pervaiz.
Eyman remained unbeaten on 79 off 43 balls, hitting 10 fours and four sixes, while Natalia contributed 24 not out.
Earlier, opener Muneeba Ali scored 36 runs after sharing a 27-run opening stand with Gull Feroza.
For Pakistan, Nashra Sandhu was the pick of the bowlers with two wickets, while Sadia Iqbal, Tuba Hassan, Ayesha Zafar, Natalia Pervaiz and captain Fatima Sana claimed one wicket each.
The final match of the series will also be played in Karachi.
