CDF Asim Munir holds key defence talks with Saudi, Turkish officials in Istanbul

RAWALPINDI: Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces (COAS & CDF) Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir held a series of high-level meetings with senior Saudi and Turkish officials during his official visit to Türkiye, with discussions focusing on bilateral defence cooperation, strategic coordination and the regional security situation.

Field Marshal Asim Munir separately met Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Turkish Minister of National Defence Yaşar Güler and Chief of the Turkish General Staff General Selçuk Bayraktaroğlu in Istanbul, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on Monday.

During the meetings, the officials discussed matters of mutual interest, bilateral defence ties and developments in the regional security environment.

The army chief also attended a meeting of the Strategic Political and Defence Committee under the Makkah Agreement for Joint Defence, bringing together Pakistan, Türkiye and Saudi Arabia.

The three sides reviewed ways to further strengthen strategic coordination and defence cooperation, highlighting the growing defence and strategic partnership among the three countries.

The engagements underscored the close ties between Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye and their shared interest in enhancing cooperation in defence and regional security.
