Pakistan Navy inducts PNS Khaibar as Naval Chief highlights maritime security and modernization

Rawalpindi — April 04, 2026: Pakistan Navy has inducted its second MILGEM-class corvette, PNS Khaibar, into the fleet, as Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf underscored the need for a technologically advanced and balanced naval force to secure the country’s maritime interests.

Speaking at the induction ceremony, the naval chief said Pakistan’s strategic location along key global trade and energy routes makes maritime security a national priority. He emphasized the importance of safeguarding Sea Lines of Communication (SLOCs), which are vital for economic stability and regional connectivity.

Admiral Ashraf highlighted the Navy’s operational preparedness, referring to its posture during Marka-e-Haq, and said the force demonstrated deterrence capability in response to potential threats. He noted that Pakistan Navy remains ready to respond to any challenge to its maritime domain.

Focus on modernization and advanced capabilities

The naval chief said Pakistan Navy is being equipped with modern platforms and advanced technologies to enhance its operational effectiveness and address evolving security challenges.

Admiral Ashraf reiterated Pakistan Navy’s commitment to defending the country’s maritime frontiers and ensuring secure sea routes. He said continued investment in advanced naval assets is essential to maintain readiness and protect national interests in a dynamic regional security environment.

He concluded by extending best wishes to the crew of PNS Khaibar and reaffirmed the Navy’s role as the guardian of Pakistan’s maritime boundaries.
