ISLAMABAD: A Pakistan Navy flotilla comprising PNS Rah Naward (sail ship), PNS Madadgar and the Pakistan Maritime Security Agency ship PMSS Kashmir has visited Port Sultan Qaboos in Muscat as part of an overseas deployment, the Directorate General Public Relations (Navy) said on Saturday.

According to the Navy, the ships were warmly received by Omani authorities on arrival. The port call is part of routine naval engagements aimed at strengthening maritime cooperation between Pakistan and Oman, two maritime neighbours with longstanding defence ties.

During the visit, Mission Commander Commodore Amir Iqbal, along with commanding officers of the visiting ships, held meetings with senior leadership of the Royal Navy of Oman. Discussions covered matters of mutual interest, navy-to-navy engagement, and cooperation in maritime security.

The visiting ships were opened to the public during the port call, allowing members of the Pakistani community and students from the Pakistan School in Muscat to tour the vessels.

Following the visit, Pakistan Navy and PMSA ships conducted a passage exercise at sea with Royal Navy of Oman ship Khasab. The exercise aimed to enhance interoperability and promote shared learning through bilateral naval drills.

The Navy said that regular port calls, senior-level exchanges, and joint exercises remain a key feature of Pakistan–Oman naval relations, and the visit is expected to further strengthen cooperation between the two navies.
